Call of Duty World at War PC Patch 1.3 Released

The CoD:WaW PC Patch 1.3 has released today.

This patch is incremental, so you will be required to have Patch 1.2 installed in order to install 1.3. The most notable additions to this patch are the /record and /demo commands which allow you to record and view your MP matches for submission to tournaments, leagues, etc.

  • Tweaked autobalance on select game modes.

Hi all,

So our initial goal was to have an update for all platforms today. The Xbox 360 and PS3 had their TU, the Wii got some new gametypes, and the PC was going to receive Patch 1.3. By the way, the 1.3 hit list is:

  • /record and /demo enabled in MP.
  • Server Log File improvements, including:
    • Team Names on Kill loglines.
    • Round Win and Loss.
    • Timestamps.
    • Additional action logging (took flag, destroyed headquarters, planted bomb, etc).
  • Improved sound initialization for Vista - fixes loss of sound for audio devices set higher than 16 bit 48000 Hz.
  • Screenshots no longer overwrite each other.
  • Tweaked autobalance on select game modes.

Unfortunately, QA found an important issue in the eleventh hour of PC 1.3 testing, which we must tend to before we can release it. Thus, the release could not happen today.

It is important to note that our development process on these updates is parallel - that is - all teams are dedicated. So the console TU's releasing today does not reflect a prioritization of one sku over the other - both teams work completely independent of each other, and this time it happens to be the PC that has had an unexpected bug pop up last-minute.

That said, the PC team is working fervently to get the PC Patch 1.3 out the door as quickly as possible, without sacrificing quality.

We appreciate the patience and your continued feedback on 1.2. I'll keep you updated to the 1.3 progress as we learn more.

Hi all,

As we are continually looking into reported issues, one thing that we've learned is there is a great amount of confusion within the PC community as to how co-op games are discovered, joined, and listed.

First, our co-op games are not hot-joinable. that means you cannot join a co-op game once it has already started. Now consider that the majority of PC players playing co-op are likely friends who call each other up on the phone, or hop on Skype or Ventrilo and say "hey let's play some co-op" - their lobbies are not open for very long. Most people join their friend's game real quick, and want to hop right into the action.

And what can we expect from the 1.3 CoD: WAW Patch ?  First, lets make a list of annoying errors.

  • Master Server Connection is still unstable.
  • Punkbuster kicking players

Punkbuster keeps kicking and throwing errors at us. So it cant hurt to test regularly if punkbuster is still working as it should on your PC. Because the auto-updating of the punkbuster files is not always working correctly.  You can use pbsvc.exe for this. But the Vista users will have the most problems.....

But it can also be that the 'Punkbuster kick' is created by a gameserver(-admin).

The above error-screen is the result of some gameservers creating client-side cfg errors !

Solution: Go play on a non-modded server for a while.

(If you know what server gives you this error, try to contact the server-admin and tell him about your punkbuster error.)

An also check this...

So when you find a mods folder in Program Files--Activision folder (again a server-admin doing it the wrong way) delete this mods folder because it can give you errors.

  • The Co-Op feature in Call of Duty: World at War is still not working as expected.
  • The recently released Linux Binaries Files for Gameservers are broken.
  • Weird Spawns
  • No Audio 

March 9th : Release Call of Duty World at War 1.3 Patch plus NEW MAPS (DLC)

The 1.3 Patch will include a more permanent fix for the audio issues.

More is unknown.

Nightfire
In "Nightfire," players take to the streets of a war-ravaged Berlin with only the flames of the burning city to expose the enemy.

Station
"Station" offers a bombed out underground train station littered with hidden passageways and destroyed subway cars.

Knee Deep
"Knee Deep" takes place on the island of Peleliu in a once tranquil village turned chaotic Japanese command center.

Verrückt (Zombie Asylum)
The fan favorite 4-player co-op Nazi Zombies Bonus Mode returns with "Verrückt," a terrifying Zombie asylum featuring more weapons, perks via the addition of Perks-a-Cola machines, electroshock defenses and the endless zombie horde.

mapmodnews Custom Map and Mod Test Servers Up

The first Custom Maps for Call of Duty World at War are released.

 
Server-admins can download these maps from special websites. Like from our mapmodnews Download section.
 

But there is no need for a player to download these maps from any website because players will get the custom maps when they enter a Custom Map CoD: WaW game-server. The download of custom maps on a game-server is most of the times much faster then downloading from any website. (at 500+ kb)

Most Custom Map game-servers are also running a Modification (Mod). And server-admins will place the content of a custom map file in the correct folders on the game-server and makes sure you will get the custom maps placed in the same folders on your PC. 
 
We did set up two mapmodnews test servers were you can try out the Openwarefare or eXtreme Mod. Plus these servers are having the 8 custom MP maps from our Download section in rotation. Maprotation: mp_bocage2, mp_georgian_bay, mp_oldbrecourt, mp_killhousev2, mp_stalemate, mp_ripac, mp_kalsville and mp_beltot.
