Gamestop have recently sent round a newsletter to all their U.S. based fans and an image of the supposed Modern Warfare 2 box art for Wii can be seen just above the box for The Beatles: Rock Band.

But this Wii game hasn’t been announced yet... While this could just be the work of a very talented photoshopper, it could also be a terrible slip by GameStop. As most of you will be aware, Infinity Ward didn’t handle Modern Warfare on the Wii, that was developed by Treyarch instead, under the name Reflex.

If there is any truth to this, we’ll surely hear details on it at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 expo) June 15-17

Call of Duty MW2 Glitches NEW Spots On Salvage

Gamers who bought the bug-inducing downloadable content (DLC) pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360 have been credited with 7 free days of Xbox Live Gold.

When Microsoft posted the enhanced game update to the Xbox Live Marketplace on March 30, it made a fatal error by making the download available before the Call of Duty game itself was updated to accept the download.

As a result, the game crashed for hours for people who legitimately purchased the content, while Microsoft struggled to fix the problem that it had apparently never dealt with before.

On Monday, reports surfaced that people who purchased the DLC pack on that first day received an e-mail from Microsoft that read as follows:

"To thank you for your loyalty to Xbox LIVE and for buying the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package on day 1, we will extend your Gold membership for 7 days of adrenaline-pumping action with your friends on LIVE. Your account will be updated on May 1."

Of course, the e-mail stops short of apologizing or even acknowledging the problem. And that free 7 days is worth less than $1, so it's not exactly a big consolation to those who were afflicted by Microsoft's blunder. But it's something.

The game update, called "Stimulus Package," now works without a hitch and costs 1200 Microsoft Points ($15, 10 pounds or 14 Euro) The PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 will also receive the pack, but only after Xbox gets it exclusively for 1 months.

Microsoft mistakenly released the latest downloadable update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at the wrong time, creating all sorts of problems in the game and even slowing down the process of validating prepaid Microsoft Points cards.

The "Stimulus Package" update to MW2 was released on Tuesday as planned, but Microsoft forgot to patch the game first to allow the update to work. The result was an "unpredictable" series of problems for the game when users tried to legitimately install the update data.

"Once they [the game update and the the enhanced-content patch] had been released out of order, it wasn’t a simple thing for us to resolve. For a couple of hours the result was unpredictable but most people couldn’t get into a game through matchmaking. In technical terms, it was a big hairball that we had to unwind," wrote Xbox Live operations manager Eric Neustadter in an official blog post.

Neustadter also blamed the Call of Duty update on scattered billing issues, primarily the fact that people who purchased Xbox Live Points cards were unable to redeem them.

"The Stimulus Package has been so popular that our [prepaid card] vendors that make those magic point cards work are a little backed up," he wrote.

Microsoft has worked to fix these issues, and they were mostly taken care of earlier in the day. However, intermittent game errors are still reportedly popping up, and card activation is still not completely up to snuff.

It's one of the biggest flubs in the history of the Xbox 360, which was the first console to offer "downloadable content" (DLC) through a streamlined platform for console games. This was first DLC pack released for Modern Warfare 2.

MW2 DLC Stimulus Mappack is now out for the Xbox 360.

At the end of april the Playstation 3 and PC players can get this mappack as well.

This Modern Warfare 2 DLC will cost 1200 MS points. ( that's 10 pounds or 14 Euro in real money.)
