Modern Warfare 2 is a game with guns - guns you shoot people with - surprise, surprise.
Part of the game has the player infiltrate a Russian terrorist group in order to take down its leader - and in infiltrating the group, there is a scene where a terrorist act is played out. So far, the context of the scene is not known and the game's publisher, Activision is adamant that the game does not support terrorism in anyway. The claims from the council is that it is so realistic you could see it on the news - so why not ban the news too?
This wonderful quote from the council spokeswoman worries me:
"If that material was on the internet about how to become a terrorist, how to join a group and how to wipe out people - that would be removed because it would not be acceptable."
Who removes it? The understanding of this group on issues of censorship and the regulation of media seems so poor it's almost amusing if it wasn't so terrifying - these people have a voice and it is getting heard. Instead of condemning a game (or any other media for that matter) for it's possibly questionable content, maybe try updating the rating system so the classification board is able to make sure 15 year olds don't get their hands on this.
